McMorran.org is a personal, almost pointless site devoted to the bizarre, the futile, to misfortune, irony and generally anything that appeals to the webmaster's twisted sense of humour.
It began as a humble page in 1993 and has grown as the webmaster has gradually got the hang of using a mouse.

Feedback, complaints, dinner invitations, death threats:
In 1993, Netscape v.2 was just out, animated gifs were a novelty and there was no such thing as Internet Explorer or Flash. While other people my age were experimenting with class A drugs, I started messing around with HTML. I set up the first homepage on de Digitale Stad, a free webspace provider in the Netherlands. Back then, only academics and nerds had web pages, and my friends scoffed at my online efforts and thought I should get a life.
I started off building in SimpleText on a Mac LCII. My first instinct was to take the piss out of the web, and I opted for a tacky parquet flooring background and a brand-busting version of Netscape. The site consisted of about three pages, a bunch of links and a photo.
1997
After a few redesigns and horrific experimentation, my style settled down a bit and I moved my site onto Geocities and then Tripod. Both turned out to be nightmare webspace providers - the hostess with the mostess annoying banner ads and all the connection speed of a piece of wet string.
The site took on a bit of structure (as well as greenness) and features such as the lookalikes and the photo gallery gained popularity. Roughbugger Junction also made its first appearance and I started some fun Flash experiments. This is pretty much where the site took on its bizarre character.
2001
Started getting a bit carried away with Flash animation. It turned out that my site was a little, um, "features-heavy" - certainly too extravagant for some of my friends who had rubbish computers on crap connections, so it ended up like swimming in treacle for the denizens of dialup land. Back to the drawing board...
2003
Ditching the all-Flash site I revitalised the design with a bit of Clerkenwell chic. There was sill a wee bit of Flash, but we were back to good old-fashioned HTML. I trimmed down the ill-conceived information architecture, and the all-new skinny low-fat diet mcmorran.org got going in 2003.
2006
As I got more disillusioned with Blogger, I decided to set up my own Content Management System. Getting the hang of PHP meant I could base the site for the first time on a CMS, I designed and built myself to my own specification.
2007
I redesigned the site again in 2007. I went for a more media-rich approach, with a background wallpaper and some funky features like the OSX tribute clock.
With the advent of RSS syndication and other web 2.0 techniques, I have managed to add some rather nice site feeds, including stuff from mates' blogs, my Flickr album and an online shop.
